Ahead of its biggest ever coverage of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, SHANK has expanded its platform, joining Threads. Threads is an American social media microblogging service operated by Meta Platforms. Threads requires an Instagram account to use the service and features integration between the two platforms. Upon its launch, Threads became the fastest-growing consumer software application in history, gaining over 100 million users in its first five days and surpassing the record previously set by ChatGPT. Threads joins Facebook, Instagram, X, BlueSky, and Tumblr as sites within the SHANK platform, alongside website www.shankmedia.co.uk and the relaunched SHANK journal, coming in 2026.
Matt Hooper, owner and operator of SHANK, said "Threads is now a viable social media platform which I can use to reach and expand the audience of SHANK, with more than 275 million users the audience for SHANK is potentially massive."
"The SHANK Threads account will be active from Sunday 7 September and feature coverage of the Amgen Irish Open, Walker Cup and BMW PGA Championship in its first week, with the Ryder Cup to come soon. Then from 27 September to 6 October Threads will feature extensive coverage of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship."
