According to Google "A domain name is important because it serves as your business's digital identity, fostering brand recognition, building customer trust, and enhancing online visibility and SEO. It provides a personalized, professional email address, is a powerful marketing tool for recall, and protects your brand by establishing ownership and preventing competitors from using similar names". Today I can confirm that the pathway to building a better digital identity, improving brand recognition and enhancing online visibility has begun, as shankmedia.co.uk becomes shank.golf


It has long been my ambition, since changing from This is St Andrews, to SHANK, in 2021, to have the platform known simply as SHANK, but the domain names .co.uk and .com have not been available, so upon launch I settled on SHANK Media, but for several reasons this hinders the growth of the platform. Simply put, people don't take it seriously, it doesn't help SHANK sit alongside the premier golf content sites or reflect the brand vision. SHANK.golf will go a long way to achieving my goals for SHANK, the domain name is now easy to remember, and it stands out against the crowd.


This is an exciting time for the platform and for its audience, with the platform expanding to new social media sites including BlueSky, Tumblr and Threads, and returning to old ones such as X. The website now is updated on a daily basis, and the content around the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is prolific and consistent. I have also made the decision to relaunch the magazine in 2026 as simply, SHANK. This journal will be consistent with the brand and be available as a digital download with much more information to come on that following the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.


Other sites which use the .golf domain name include SKRATCH, the Dubai-based golf magazine WORLDWIDE GOLF, and the golf magazine co-founded by Arnold Palmer, KINGDOM.
